In the Netherlands, the whistleblowing law is known as “Wet Bescherming Klokkenluiders.” Dutch organizations, both private and public, with at least 250 employees must create internal channels for reporting. Starting Dec. 17, 2023, the obligation will extend to all companies with 50 or more employees.
The 2016 legislation, “Wet Huis voor Klokkenluiders,” protects those who report in good faith, while the new EU Whistleblowing Directive further strengthens this protection by placing the burden of proof on the employee and preventing retaliation..
